July Health - Benefits of Lemon Balm (Buck Moon)



July’s moon is called the Buck or Thunder moon, as buck’s antlers are in full growth mode (The Farmer’s Almanac) and also because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month.

The Energy flow of the Buck moon is relaxed, after all is it Summer. Use lazy days and long nights to make time for meditating on goals and plans you wish to succeed in. To make Lemon Balm Tincture: Steep fresh chopped clean leaves (no stems) in 40% vodka or rum, add a good amount of honey, label your jar. Sit in a cool dark place for a minimum of 2 weeks (no need to shake) then strain and put into sterilised bottle. Dosage: 6-12 drops (1ml) 1/4 tspn up to 3 times a day (in juice/under tongue).
